If you live in the Eastern and Western Bay of Plenty, are already receiving Individualised Funding or thinking about Enhanced Individualised Funding, the Western Bay of Plenty Disability Support Trust's latest seminar is for you.

The New Model for Supporting Disabled People is about individuals having more choice, control and flexibility over their supports and budget so they can live the life they want. Enhanced Individualised Funding (EIF), which is part of the New Model for Supporting Disabled People, is about how they use the disability support budget and the disability supports they can buy with it.

But a number of residents might be unsure how to use it, or the benefits it can bring to them, says coordinator for the Western Bay of Plenty Disability Support Trust Gill Gardner.

That's why the Trust is focusing on the EIF for their eighth Disability Networking for Inclusion Seminar on Friday, November 20 at 10am at the Bethlehem Baptist Church.

'Some people probably don't know much about it, so the seminar will go through the process of application to demonstrating what you can use it for,” says Gill.

'The seminar is of interest to people with disabilities, family/whanau, representatives of organisations providing advice, advocacy and information services and representatives of health professionals and service providers.”

Local woman Margo McCurdy will also be demonstrating her marvelous mobility scooter, a new design which takes seconds to assemble and has been an invaluable tool for the Ohauiti woman.

If you would like to enjoy a morning of meeting and networking with others in the disability sector, please contact Gill on email coordinator.wbop.dst@gmail.com or phone 021 333 900. A gold coin donation to cover the venue hire is welcomed.
