A Mount of a mission

Twelve laps, nine-and-a-half hours, and 2.5kg shed – Kris Torstonson from Corys Electrical Tauranga put his body on the line for prostate cancer.

The branch manager did a whooping mission of running, walking (and sometimes crawling) to the Mount summit and back for a whole work day on Friday.

The Weekend Sun checked in with him on Monday morning, waiting until the pain had worn off to see how he was holding up.

'The legs are still pretty sore to be honest!” he says. 'I was on the bike on Saturday to try to work out some of the aches, but I'm not sure it helped much.”

He admits there 'wasn't much left in the tank by the end of Friday that's for sure” and lost 2.5kg as a result.

'But it's all for a great cause though so totally worth it! I managed a total of 12 times up and down so I was stoked with that result.”

'The day went really well, due in no small part to the support crews, Mum and Dad, Smitty, Legs, Shaan, Errol and the team at Corys Tauranga, plus the fantastic support from Niiki and Arden at Rebel Sport Tauranga.

"Not to mention everyone out there who came through with supportive messages, texts and donations. It was really cool thing to be a part of.”

The Givealittle page is still open for donations, with all proceeds going to the Prostate Foundation of New Zealand.
