The residents of Ocean Shores Village have rallied together to raise funds for Hato Hone St John, Mount Maunganui.

Last month, Ocean Shores Village residents donated an impressive $11,000 to support their local St John ambulance service.

For six weeks, village residents got involved in a fundraising blitz to make the money. 'We had dinners, raffles, spot prize snooker – anything that we could make money out of, we did,” says fundraising team chairperson Neville Hall.

They also sold off furniture to raise the funds too, he says. It's not the first time the residents have pooled their resources for St Johns either. 'We've done the last two years raising funds for St Johns – they do a great service to our village,” says Neville.

St John's Western Bay of Plenty area operations manager Mat Delaney says Hato Hone St John is thrilled to receive the generous donation. 'These funds will be set aside for work on our Mount Maunganui station to enable more vehicle resources to be based at The Mount,” says Mat.

'The support of OSV residents is greatly appreciated and reflects the encouraging local spirit we have in the area.”
