Brookfield New World is hosting a free community event featuring kai (food), games and a grocery giveaway tomorrow to celebrate an upgrade to the supermarket’s click & collect facilities.

From 10am-1pm, customers are invited to enjoy a free sausage sizzle and bacon-and-egg butties while they check out the upgrade of the click & collect area next to the store.

“We have some free games for people to play, and some prizes and giveaways worth $2000 in total,” said Brookfield New World online manager Briar Marsden.

“We’ve had click & collect for quite some years now, but we’ve got a brand new canopy that’s just been built. This will keep everybody dry – our customers and staff – whether collecting or loading orders and keep them out of the sun in the summertime.

“We’ve also had new click & collect carpark linings painted and created a new layout to make the space bigger.”

The work was done to make it easier for customers to collect their orders, “especially the ones with little children or the elderly, who use our services or need assistance with their groceries”.

Marsden said everyone was welcome tomorrow.

“The whole event is free to the community to come in and learn about our click & collect service and our brand new space, but also enjoy some snacks and treats and have a really nice time.”

The iconic Kaimai Eggs truck and staff will be on-site too, for those wanting to learn about how their product is produced locally. “So get along tomorrow, May 9!”
