They're called mumtreprenuers – mums in business, working from home, or simply juggling work, childcare and well… life.
Two Tauranga mums are finding ways to provide support for parents to not only find some time for themselves, but to specifically support mumtreprenuers.
Mother-of-two Pauline Rowe has created Cup of Sugar – an online platform for parents to support each other with child minding so they can take time out for themselves in a way that is affordable, fair and safe.
Pauline is encouraging mums and dads to utilise the networks they have with other parents they know and trust, so they can help each other do the simple things including going to the movies, pursue an interest, or simply have some time to themselves.
She's doing this through an online tool where parents can create their own private child minding group.
'Cup of Sugar is the first of its kind in New Zealand and aims to provide a platform for parents to not only be able to ask for help in a structured fair way, but to not feel guilty about it.
'Cup of Sugar uses points (virtual sugar cubes) to keep track of who has looked after who ensuring the system is fair, and win, win for both parents.”
Tiffany Matthews is the founder of Healthy Wealthy Wonderful and collaborates with many mother entrepreneurs throughout NZ and North America. She has seen first-hand the stress, illness and ultimate burn out that occurs when women are constantly on the go, putting everyone else's needs before their own. She encourages mothers to put themselves first, guilt free, and to let go of self-appointed expectations.
Tiffany is on a mission to ease some of that burden through her community project ‘Blending the Motherload'. Her aim is to create a community of women who share the care of their children through the use of Pauline's Cup of Sugar programme, leaving mothers more free to take action in their business.
The project is started on Sunday at the Box Park Markets in Papamoa, open to any mother entrepreneur in the BOP. Mums had the opportunity to network, listen to inspiring speakers who are blending the motherload and making it all work, and also have time out to relax.
