Returning visitors to Isaac Weston and Lara Bui’s Matua property can expect plenty of new discoveries when the couple open their sculpture garden and art gallery for the Bay of Plenty Garden & Art Festival in November 2026.

“We love it because everyone arrives excited to explore,” Bui said.

“They appreciate both the gardens and the art, and there’s such a positive atmosphere. Rain or shine, people are genuinely happy to be out discovering new places.”

Preparing for the festival is a year-round project. Visitors can expect to see new pathways, plantings and gardens, while Isaac’s evolving collection of sculptures ensures returning visitors always have something new to see.

“With this being our sixth year, we’re always looking for ways to keep the experience fresh,” Bui said.

“The garden is always evolving, and we love creating spaces where people can slow down and explore.”

A full-time copper artist, Isaac is known for using salts, acids and sunlight to create striking patina finishes that reveal the organic beauty of copper.

“I’m constantly experimenting and creating new pieces, from copper flowers to large-scale sculptures and indoor artworks,” Weston said.

“Copper is such a versatile material, and I enjoy exploring its possibilities, so there’s always something different for people to experience.”

Visitors to the festival, which runs from November 19–22, will be able to explore the outdoor sculpture garden, browse the indoor gallery and purchase artworks directly while learning more about Isaac’s unique creative process.
