Art and creative crafts to behold or buy!

‘Light and Free’ by Te Puke Art Society secretary Ali Thomas.

It’s almost time for the Te Puke Arts Society’s annual exhibition, where amazing art and creative crafts will be on display and available for purchase.

The exhibition will be held 9am-4pm from November 3-12 at the historic Constable’s Gallery on Commerce Lane in Te Puke.

“Normally, the exhibition runs for one weekend –  but this year it is being held for a week-and-a-half, to give people more of a chance to come and see the arts and crafts,” says Te Puke Art Society secretary Ali Thomas.

There will be lots of new art on the wall, created by members of the Te Puke Arts Society within the past year, with a range of styles, mediums and subject matters on display – including painted rocks.

The Quilting Exhibition at Te Puke Arts Society will put artists’ amazing quilts, sewing, knitting and crafts into the exhibition as well.

The annual People’s Choice Award gives visitors the opportunity to vote for their favourite piece of art or craft work, which then gets tallied up at the week’s end. The winning artist will receive a certificate and a boost to their confidence.

There will be raffle prizes, which will be drawn at the end of the week, for $2 per ticket or three for $5. The money from the raffle goes back into the maintenance of the Constable’s Gallery.

Eftpos is available for purchases, and “prices are pretty reasonable, too,” says Ali.
