With the 2026 General Election on November 7, the Electoral Commission has confirmed more than 2300 voting places will be open on the day.
Advance voting begins on Monday, October 26, and election day is Saturday, November 7.
“Our voting places are in locations people go in their daily lives including community halls, schools, shopping malls, places of worship, tertiary education providers and marae,” Electoral Commission Chief Electoral Officer Karl Le Quesne said.
“It’s important that every eligible New Zealander has the opportunity to vote,” he said.
“Whether you’re in the heart of the city or in a rural area, we will have voting places across the country to make voting as easy as possible, including mobile voting services.”
There will also be more than 220 Whare Pōti Māori voting places, which include marae, kura (schools), wānanga (tertiary institutes and post-secondary learning spaces) and other community spaces, which were chosen for their significance to Māori voters in local communities.
This will include 67 bilingual (reo rua) voting places, where voters can go through the voting process in te reo Māori or English.
Accessible services include 1679 fully accessible voting places, New Zealand Sign Language interpreters at six locations and three voting places with quiet times.
“We want to say a big thank you to everyone who is hosting voting places for us to support democracy in their communities,” Le Quesne said.
Find your nearest voting place
Voters can find the list of voting places and opening hours online at vote.nz. They can search for their nearest voting place on an interactive map or look up voting places by electorate and suburb.
Le Quesne said during advance voting, people can look out for a list of their nearest voting places at their local supermarket.
“People can also call us for free on 0800 36 76 56 and our team will be ready to help you find your nearest voting place,” he said.
“Anyone who cannot make it to a voting place should also give us a call. We have alternative voting options available.
“The days and times voting places are open during advance voting vary, so check before you go to vote.”
