House of Science NZ has been named one of the world’s leading education innovations in the HundrED Global Collection 2026.

The annual report celebrates 100 of the most impactful and scalable education initiatives from around the globe.

House of Science was selected from more than 3000 innovations and reviewed by an international panel of experts.

The organisation was recognised for its hands-on approach to improving science education and empowering teachers across Aotearoa New Zealand.

House of Science chief executive and founder Chris Duggan said the honour reflected the dedication of the charity’s team, volunteers and supporters.

“Being named in the HundrED Global Collection 2026 is a tremendous honour that reflects the dedication of our team, volunteers, and supporters across Aotearoa New Zealand,” Duggan said.

“It highlights how a simple, scalable idea of sharing hands-on science kits through a community library network can make a measurable difference to education and equity, not just here in New Zealand but around the world,” she said.

House of Science was established in 2014 and had grown into a nationwide network of branches.

The charitable trust provided bilingual, curriculum-based science resource kits to help schools deliver engaging, high-quality science lessons.

The kits also supported literacy and numeracy through science, encouraging curiosity, problem-solving and critical thinking.

Inclusion in the HundrED Global Collection placed House of Science alongside other globally recognised leaders in education.

The recognition reinforced the organisation’s role as a trailblazer in accessible science learning.
