Bodacious bangers to beautiful ballads, Tauranga’s youth orchestra will this month present a concert that celebrates music from composer whose surnames start with B.
Youth Philharmonic Tauranga presents All the Bs on Saturday, September 12 from 4pm at St Peter’s in the City.
The orchestra’s music director, William McElwee, said concert-goers could expect a range of interesting entertainment to unfold.
“Bodacious bangers by Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, Dave Brubeck, and a healthy dose of other B-related orchestral phenomena – think Bumblebees, Corpse Brides, and even more!”
After no youth orchestra for two decades, the city saw the birth of Youth Philharmonic Tauranga at a symphonic workshop in October 2016 under conductor Justus Rozemond.
Today, youth rehearse weekly to learn classical music together and learn how to play in an orchestra, McElwee said.
“We have 35 young players on the orchestra who can’t wait to share what they’ve been working on.”
All the Bs is on September 12 from 4pm at St Peter’s in the City, 130 Spring St, Tauranga. The event is free to all.
