Katikati Toy Library is seeking volunteers to join its committee to keep the facility running smoothly.
The committee runs the library behind the scenes — and is made up of volunteers.
“We’ve had a few people leave our committee this year and we’re in desperate need of new volunteers to join up to help with roles,” toy librarian Sandy Goode said.
An extra four volunteers would help the committee to keep the facility operating, Goode said.
“Each volunteer would only need to give two-four hours per month to support the toy library.
“In particular, we need someone who would be able to slowly transition into the treasurer’s role.”
The job entails reconciling the library’s Xero accounts and processing about 15-20 transactions per month.
“It’s not a lot of work but it just needs to be done on a regular basis, such as monthly.”
Goode said this role might suit an older person who has a few hours to volunteer their time and some finance experience.
“But it could also suit someone younger with no experience — we are willing to train the right person for the role.”
Goode said the committee want the community to know that the toy library was financially stable — but its existence depends on people volunteering to help operate it.
“Please, if people can come forward to help, we would really appreciate it. Volunteering with us doesn’t demand a huge amount of time, it is more being able to help out in small ways on a semi-regular basis.”
Those who could help, should email their contact details to: joinus@katikatitoylibrary.org.nz or phone Sandy Goode direct on 027 549 0784.
